25 YEARS AFTER 9/11, WAR IS STILL NOT THE ANSWER Twenty-five years after 9/11, another world is still possible. Congress can honor this anniversary by rejecting policies rooted in fear and violence, reasserting constitutional authority over war and protecting the rights and dignity of all people in this country. We do not have to choose between security and justice; lasting security depends on pursuing both. IT'S NOT ENOUGH TO REMEMBER 9/11. WE NEED TO RECOMMIT TO PEACE For this milestone anniversary, some quiet contemplation in our ever-noisy world seems essential to continue processing the attacks and their aftermath, but also as a starting point to consider how we can advocate for peace in our world.   THE U.S. BISHOPS ARE SPEAKING OUT FORCEFULLY ON POLITICS — AND FINALLY BEING HEARD Individual bishops have found public ways to witness to the dignity of our migrant brothers and sisters. Bishops have also started to speak up against the war in Iran. These “mark a new willingness on the part of both individual bishops and bishops acting through the conference to act to make sure the church’s teaching is heard clearly.   CARE FOR CREATION AND THE QUESTION OF WAR Pope Leo XIV’s message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation binds environmental breakdown to war, urging that the energies now absorbed by rearmament be redirected toward human development.
